Filo Parcels

What is filo pastry? Also known as phyllo and fillo, filo pastry is a thin sheet of pastry used in Middle Eastern cooking. It is used in both sweet and savory dishes, and is notable for its flakiness.
Filo Parcels Recipe


1 x 375 gram packet filo pastry
3 tablespoon polyunsaturated oil


Remove one sheet of pastry at a time and cover remaining with a slightly damp, clean tea towel. Lightly brush with oil, then fold into thirds lengthwise. Place a tablespoon of filling in the bottom corner of the pastry. Fold over the corner for form a triangle and continue folding keeping the triangular shape. Place on lightly oiled tray. Continue until all the filling has been used. Bake at 200 degree C for 20 minutes. Alternatively the parcels may be folded in at the sides and rolled up as a cylindrical shape.

Suggested Filling:

1. cheesy vegetable: (180 kJ(40 cal) per parcel)
1 cup chopped steamed cauliflower
1 cup chopped steamed broccoli
1 cup continental cottage cheese
freshly ground black pepper



Mix together— makes 25 parcels.
2. Potato Mushroom (175 kJ (40 Cal) per parcel)
1 cup slice steamed mushrooms
2 small tomatoes diced
1 onion diced
2 boiled potatoes diced
mixed herbs


Mix together— makes 25 parcels.
